My Bun-Buns are Here! They're Here! The Eggs Hatch Today!

BUN-BUNS!
I picked up this pair of Lionhead rabbits with their cage, feeder, water, hay and pellet feed for $40. I already knew I'd need at least one 4H rabbit to show at the fair this year but they only came with all the stuff if you took them both and they are fantastic bun-buns. They don't like loud noises but they are super tame. They are 12 weeks old and They will be residing in my room when its hot outside and be outside in their cage in the shade when the weather is fair. I love my show rabbits! I've been planning to get a couple since last year and I've wanted a betta for at least two years - Yeah! This week my plans have been in action. The next thing is to get 'Fish' the red betta into my 10GAL tank, but I'm having a hard time getting a filter in Southern Utah without paying full prize, thinking about a sponge though...

Now The Momas!

"I can barley see but I'll peck you, my eggs are hatching!"

"Stay away from the pipping eggs!"

This is all of them clucking to their babies last night.

Chickens in the run.

Old Pictures Of Chickens I Still Have

From the left: Bottlecap, Jingle, Jangle, Pidge

I'm so glad I kept this rooster, and all of these guys I think I would have cried if I hadn't kept some of flock number 2. But Jingle doesn't look this good anymore, I had him in a pen with a bunch of chickens, he got mangled when the flock had grown to 45. That's way too many chickens for anyone, so avoid that many even when I had the the farm with 3 acres.

Now I've matured as a chicken keeper, being in the partial suburbs and understand when there are too many or how not to keep what hatches. Yeah. Finally I understand, I got blind sited by all the eggs with flock number two. But flock number three, is here to stay and its an exhibition flock.

Chickens & A Surprize

Betta fish setup

Yesterday I found a great deal on betta fish supplies so I bought all of the stuff that was left. Today I went to the local petstore and spent $5.30(including tax, reg $4.99) on my first betta fish, my very first pet fish.

Above is the bowl and stuff the night before I got the fish.

My betta is a deep maroon color and likes to make bubbles and seems a little curious for a fish (normal?) he, if its a he, will be an inch away from the glass and just sit there watching you or the dolphin movie set up behind the tank. Maybe he is listening to the ocean sound that comes from it?

Anywho, what's YOUR betta storie(s)? And post pictures of your fish! (my betta was homed with me for a good deal and because he really stood out against all the others)

Watermelon! And the Flock Goes Wild!

Watermelon is a home run with my flock, they can't get enough. With the southern Utah weather reaching over 100*F every day its important to keep everyone hydrated, even the stubborn broodies. At the local market I picked up a $4.50 watermelon and here's the flock indulging that, how long will it last?

The broody moms are fighting over eggs, and Cottonswab (right) is pulling out her fluffy.

GRRRRR! My Eggs!

Other hen GRRRR-ing!

I love my chickens, sold the silkies and the flock is back down to 20! Very reasonable for the coop, but I'll have to sell some babies if they hatch. I also got new shoes. Garden shoes.

Update on the Hatching Eggs

They all look good as far as week two goes, only lost the one silkie egg. I was worried about my incubator's window being broken in the move so last night I took all the eggs out and placed them under all THREE of my broody hens, they don't mind and I won't have to set up a brooder area! Problem is that the mom hens are going to hatch two sets of chicks, one batch 5 days after the first.

Jingle the Golden Sebright with her eggs.

Princess the Black Silkie with her eggs.

Princess off the nest - SO RARE!

Cottonswab on her eggs, she might have too many - since I added to the clutch.

Watermelon is coming up next.
